Ralph Northam announced on Friday he would sign a bill to provide state subsidies for companies that invest in natural gas projects in Virginia.

Northam, who has been critical of the Trump administration for its support of the Dakota Access Pipeline, said he had been briefed on the proposal by the White House.

He says it will allow the state to attract investments from companies that already have the resources to do so.
