Posted March 15, 2018 06:21:49 A New England gas lantern manufacturer says the natural-gas industry is hurting its bottom line, and that’s because it’s taking advantage of the new technology.
Maine-based Natural Gas Lanterns is one of several companies that are suing the U.S. Department of Energy for using the term “natural gas” to describe natural gas that’s not produced by their company.
The natural gas companies say the term is misleading because they’re not in the business of producing natural gas.
The term is also misleading because it doesn’t mean that the natural product is not produced in Maine.
The Maine Natural Energy Alliance is suing the DOE because the agency has “focussed on the term natural gas,” said Brian Follmer, executive director of the alliance.
