By David Mack / 10 March 2018 11:40:52The president signed legislation Friday to expand his domestic natural gas and oil production, signing a bill that would allow companies to begin drilling for natural gas in the continental United States, the White House announced.

The bill will create the North American Natural Gas Pipeline Initiative, or NEGPI, which will allow the U.S. to begin exporting liquefied natural gas to foreign markets and to develop a new pipeline to carry liquefier gas through the Midwest and Atlantic Coast, White House press secretary Ryan Jackson said in a statement.

The pipeline would provide the United States with more than 6 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day.

It is also expected to provide the U,S.

with as much as 3 billion cubic meters of natural gasoline per day and the potential to produce as much gasoline from natural gas as the nation produces from diesel.

Trump signed the bill in a room at the White Senate, a presidential residence, where he signed a bill to allow the development of new oil and natural gas pipelines.

It also will help reduce the nation’s dependence on foreign oil, the president said in the statement.
