Natural gas company Pegasus Energy issued a safety alert Wednesday saying that the company had identified three major issues related to its Pegasus Natural Gas Line 1 pipeline in the state of California.
The alert said the pipeline, which is connected to the California Natural Gas Supply and Distribution system, was a “critical infrastructure” that had “become a source of significant risk for pipeline accidents.”
It warned that Pegasus Natural gas pipeline, as well as other pipelines connected to that system, had become a “source of significant” risks for pipeline accident.
The company said the company was working with state and federal officials to develop a plan to address these issues.
Pegasus Natural Energy is a subsidiary of French utility Total.
Pegasus Natural Gas Lines 1 and 2, which were built in the late 1980s, have been a source in recent years of a series of pipeline and tank explosion deaths in California.
